Kleptomania
An article by Bayle and colleagues (2003) examined 11 patients with clinical diagnoses of Kleptomania
Conclusion:
- High comorbidity, especially with mood disorders
- Comorbidity with substance-use disorders was low (especially if nicotine dependence was ignored)
- O-C spectrum disorders would found in only one patient–consistent with Bienvenu et al. (2000) that impulse-control disorders should not be included in the obsessive-compulsive spectrum
- Impulsivity was the major psychopathological feature of kleptomania
A pattern of variation was noted in which kleptomania increased or decreased after changes of mood was noted in several cases
