STUDENT OF ART ILLINOIS STATE UNIVERSITY
Description
This abstract sculpture was Barry Tinsley’s first commissioned piece and represents his early work in steel. He has since worked with other metals and stones. The piece is a tribute to one of his former students, Janice Louise Moorhous, who died in 1972 at the age of 20. Tinsley also created Aqua, which stands at the entrance to the Science Laboratory Building.
The Department of Art at Illinois State University is pleased to announce the dedication of “Untitled,” a sculpture created by Assistant Professor of Art W. Barry Tinsley, in memory of Janice Louise Moorhaus, a student at ISU from September 1969 to May 1972. Ms. Moorhaus was under Tinsley’s guidance as a sculpture student at the time of her passing on September 18, 1972, as reported by the Pantagraph in December 1974.
