Charles Ives Sesquicentennial Festival

February 19-22, 2025 | Illinois State University and the Chicago Sinfonietta

About

Illinois State University will host a segment of a national festival to commemorate the sesquicentennial of the composer Charles Ives (1874-1954).

The festival is a project of the Music Unwound consortium, a National Endowment of the Humanities-funded initiative to bring the public programs that connect music and the humanities.

Illinois State is the fourth site that the festival will visit. Others have included the Bevard, North Carolina, Music Festival, July 2024; Indiana University’s Jacobs School of Music, September-October 2024; and New York’s Bard College, with additional performances at Carnegie Hall, October 2024.

At Illinois State, the festival is a joint project of the School of Music and the Department of History, with participation as well from the School of Theatre, Dance, and Film, along with support from the College of Arts and Sciences and the Wonsook Kim College of Fine Arts.

This event is brought to you by ISU’s Department of History and School of Music.
