Dr. Li Zeng

Greetings to you who are reading my webstie! I am an associate professor of film studies in the School of Theatre and Dance. I came to Illinois State University as an instructional professor in 2007, when I was finishing my thesis, “The Past Revisited: Popular Memory of the Cultural Revolution in Contemporary China.” The thesis won both a graduate research grant and the Alumnae Fellowship from Northwestern University. After gaining my doctoral degree in screen culture studies from Northwestern University in 2008, I formally joined the School of Theatre and Dance at Illinios State University. 

I have been teaching a variety of film courses, including film genres (i.e. horror, film noir), theory, film history, Asian cinema, American Cinema, and film adaptation.   My research interests include the representation of history in visual media, feminist theory, genre studies, adaptation, and Asian cinema and television.

My Teaching Interests Include:

  • Film history (American film history, European film history)
