Call for Abstracts Presentations

The Illinois Department of Public Health – Center for Minority Health Services invites public health practitioners, health care providers, payers, community partners, public health students, and other professionals to submit an abstract for consideration for the 2022 Minority Health Conference to be held on November 15 -16, 2022 on a virtual platform. The conference theme is Public Health & Social Justice: Pathways to Minority Health Equity.

Conference Goals

This conference is designed to improve knowledge on health disparities and social justice issues and how they affect health outcomes; build competencies among healthcare professionals, and develop collaboration with other service providers, and community partners in serving minorities and other disadvantaged communities in Illinois. By the conclusion of this conference, participants should be able to build on community engagement and collaboration and to work with these communities to provide culturally and linguistically appropriate services through scientific and evidence-based best practices.  

Program Objectives

By attending this conference, participants will be able to:

  • Identify the barriers and/or challenges faced by healthcare agencies seeking to serve minority and underserved populations.
  • Discuss methods and strategies for awareness, prevention, and treatment of diseases within minority populations.
  • Review research data and statistics of the current status of racial and ethnic health disparities and recommendations for solutions.
  • Engage in opportunities for skill building, information-sharing and networking among conference attendees and community health organizations/institutions throughout the state of Illinois.
