Civic Engagement

One of the most exciting aspects to the minor in peace and conflict resolution studies is that it incorporates community service work as a requirement for IDS 111, the introductory course to peace studies. Students work individually or in teams in local organizations for approximately 15-20 hours during the semester. They can use this service-learning in part to reflect and analyze how their experiences in the field bridge theory and practice of conflict resolution strategies, build upon their volunteer experiences, become better acquainted with their community, and learn more about themselves and their future goals.
