Spanish Club wins awards during the Academic Year 2014-2015!
Congratulations to the Spanish Club for winning the award for Outstanding Service/Volunteer Program 2015 at the Student Involvement Recognition Ceremony and also for winning the award for Outstanding Registered Student Organization 2015 at the Diversity Advocacy 27th Annual Commitment to Diversity Awards Ceremony.
Alma Latina Award
This award will be given each year in April to a member of the Spanish Club for supporting the club in most of the activities during the academic year. The Executive Board of the Club will select three candidates based on their participation and dedication during the year. The Advisor of the club will conduct individual interviews with each candidate and will select the recipient of the award. The winner will be presented to the Administrative Assistant and Chair of the Languages, Literatures, and Cultures Department. Once approved, the winner will be informed. There are some conditions that the possible recipient needs to have in order to deserve the award.
Outstanding New Program of the Year 2014. This award was presented by the Student Involvement Center – Dean of Students Office at Illinois State University.
Outstanding Diversity/Multicultural Program of the Year
This award was given to the club in 2013 & 2009 for “Fiesta Latina”.
Best Philanthropic Program of the Year
The Spanish Club was presented with this award for the 2010-2011 year for the annual Thanksgiving Potluck Dinner.
Outstanding Registered Student Organization 2009 at the Diversity Advocacy 21th Annual Commitment to Diversity Awards Ceremony.
Student Involvement Award for a Large Registered Student Organization 2007-2008. This award was presented by the Student Involvement Center – Dean of Students Office at Illinois State University.
Registered Student Organization of the Month
In September 2008, Spanish Club was recognized by the Student Government Association Program and Recognitions Committee. This was a result of the club’s exceptional efforts to encourage and celebrate the Spanish language on the Illinois State University campus during September, which is Latino Heritage month.
