NORMAL, Ill.- The Normal Theatre reopened for in-person showings this month. A New York artist paints art to be a coping device during a pandemic.

From Oct. 1-4 the Manhattan short film festival was shown in the reopening of the Normal Theatre. Upon reopening, the theater will operate at a reduced capacity of 50 guests.  Tickets can be purchased in-person at the box office 30 minutes prior to show time.

Nine films were shown from all over the world. To ensure that this event was safe, seating was assigned and masks were required at all times.

Founder of the Manhattan short film festival Nicholas Mason said that the reason so many theatres opened up for this event was because, “some art is meant to be seen by a larger audience.”

The Normal theatre will remain open with showings of Beetlejuice and the Rocky Horror Picture show.
