Wiz Khalifa: The Good Trip Tour

By: Logan Moeller

On April 19, 2023, Wiz Khalifa headlined the Good Trip tour at the Grosinger Moters Arena with assisting acts such as Smoke DZA, Chevy Woods, Berner, and Joey Bada$$.

When I first heard about Wiz Khalifa coming to a college town, I thought tickets would sell out instantly. Luckily although I waited until the last minute me, and my friends were all able to secure tickets to the show with extremely good seats. This was my first time seeing a show at the Grossinger Moter arena and I was extremely impressed with the venue. We made it through security and ticket checks quickly and were able to get shown directly to our seats.

The show started with the rapper’s smoke DZA and Chevy Woods, Although I had never heard of either of them before they provided a great show, and a lot of their music gave similar vibes as Joey Bada$$. After they concluded their set Berner began to perform, which is where the energy in the crowd started to elevate as we anticipated Wiz. Although I had never heard of Berner either before this performance I really enjoyed his music and after looking more into him I discovered he is the CEO of the trendy clothing brand COOKIES.

Finally it came time for Joey Bada$$ who I was thrilled to see. Although he lacked performance. Quality and stood in the same spot the whole show, it was still great to see him live. He sang all his classic songs like Love is Only a Feeling, Show Me, and Righteous Minds. Although he lacked stage presence his vocals and his set list made up for it in the end.

Following that Wiz Khalifa closed out the night with one of the best performances I had ever seen. I never realized how many of his songs I knew until I was there because he played absolutely all his hits like Black and Yellow, Young Wild and Free, The Thrill, We Dem Boyz, and so much more. Wiz Khalifa brought the energy and the stage presence that a lot of other performers do not have anymore and was running and jumping around the stage the whole show. My favorite performance was when he sang his feature in the Miley Cyrus song 23 because that has been my go-to party song for years and I had been dying to hear it live. Wiz ended his set with his song See You Again where he gave a tribute to several artists who had passed away in recent years like King Von, XXXTENTACION, Paul Walker, and Nipsey Hussle. This was a fantastic way to end the show and had the whole arena singing along, the tribute even made several of my friend’s cry. Overall, this was a great show and despite it being on a Wednesday night I had an amazing time and gave it a 9/10 Show.
