Congratulations to all our graduates! Katelyn Anderson and Kristyn Bossle graduated in December 2017. Robert Baker, Kelley Brinson, Tavaris Coleman, Connor Ehnle, Jesus Estrada, Megan Knoernschild, Jake McArthy, Kevin McNally, Julia Martin, Julia Mota, Chris Serpe, Savanah Taylor, and Kaitie Wildman graduated in May 2018.

Our recent collaborative publication with Dr. Victor Faundez at Emory University titled “Neurological Rare Disease Mechanisms Identified by Genealogical Proteomics of ATP7A Mutant Pedigrees” in Cell Systems (2018) was recently highlighted in “The Scientist.” Check out the link below.

Congratulations to Luc Carey, Liz Scott, Reid Burch and Morgan McCall! Their undergraduate research was published in Cell Systems (2018) and is titled “Neurological Rare Disease Mechanisms Identified by Genealogical Proteomics of ATP7A Mutant Pedigrees” ​

Congratulations to Jake McArthy! His undergraduate research was published in eLife (2017) and is titled “The Interactome of the Copper Transporter ATP7A Belongs to a Network of Neurodevelopmental and Neurodegeneration Factors.” 

​Awards

Dr. Alysia Vrailas-Mortimer is a Co-PI on NSF IUSE proposal for expanding Fly-CURE to additional institutions and to study how the number of research experiences influence students’ sense of belonging in STEM.

Dr. Alysia Vrailas-Mortimer was awarded an R15 (AREA) grant from the NIH, NIAMS to study the role of p38K and protein homeostasis in Limb-Girdle Muscular Dystrophies.
