Welcome!

Welcome to my professional website. I am an Associate Professor in Illinois State University’s Department of Psychology, and I’ve been here since 2016.

I completed a B.A. in philosophy and religion at Hope College, an M.Div. at Western Theological Seminary, and an M.S. and Ph.D. from Iowa State University. I help train masters level psychology students in counseling theories and skills. I also teach undergraduate courses such as counseling techniques and theories, personality, motivation, psychopathology, introduction to psychology, the psychology of happiness, the psychology of improvisation and spontaneity, and the history of psychology.

My research ultimately aims to make sense of factors related to mental health and well-being. I tend to study factors related to how we seek help and provide it.
