Graduate School and Jobs

Here’s a few resources for psychology students thinking about graduate school and jobs.

  1. Transferrable Skills. Sometimes psychology students have a hard time putting together a resume because it is hard to articulate the skills they have learned during their undergraduate studies. This document (Naufel et al., 2018) provides a nice list of skills that psychology students can put in their resumes.

2. Career Interests. Here’s a website that can be very helpful for career exploration. Sometimes psychology students know they are interested in studying people, but they aren’t sure what to do with their degree. Here’s a website that provides students with a profile of their career interests and matches them to careers that match those interests.

Psych Grad CV Buddy: This chatbot offers you a few options. You can either have it walk you through a step-by-step process where it asks you questions and helps you craft your CV from scratch, you can see example CVs, or you can upload your current CV and it will help you improve it. Of course,

It does not replace personalized feedback from advisors, career counselors, or faculty members. While efforts have been made to ensure accuracy, users are responsible for reviewing and tailoring their CVs to meet specific program requirements. The chatbot does not guarantee admission or job placement.
