Attendee Information

On behalf of the Illinois Department of Public Health’s Office of Women’s Health and Family Service (OWHFS), we would like to extend an invitation to attend the second Illinois Maternal Health Summit. The purpose of the Summit is to convene maternal health stakeholders from around the state to identify opportunities to reduce disparities in maternal health outcomes and coordinate efforts to improve maternal health in Illinois.

Program Objective

To address the gaps in strategies regarding maternal health, learn and discuss recommendations generated by the Illinois Morbidity and Mortality Report and develop specific approaches and action steps to implement programs and policies that can facilitate better outcomes for women and families across the state of Illinois.

Target Audience

This conference will address a variety of health issues unique to maternal health. Target audience is listed below, but is not limited to:   

  • Public health personnel and staff
  • Community members and organizations
  • Public and private sector health professionals
  • Nurses
  • Health educators
  • Licensed social workers / Licensed clinical social workers
  • Professional counselors / Licensed clinical counselors
  • Insurance providers
  • Policymakers
  • Survivors of severe pregnancy complication(s)

Continuing Education

Jointly provided by: Southern Illinois University School of Medicine and the Illinois Department of Public Health  

Attendees have 30 days after the conference to submit their continuing education credits to SIU.

Accreditation: This activity has been planned and implemented in accordance with the accreditation requirements and policies of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) through the joint providership of Southern Illinois University School of Medicine and the Illinois Department of Public Health.  The SIU School of Medicine is accredited by the ACCME to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

Credit

  • SIU School of Medicine designates this live activity for a maximum of 6.5 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™.  Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity
  • American Academy of Physician Assistants (AAPA) accepts certificates of participation for educational activities certified for AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™ from organizations accredited by ACCME. Physician assistants may receive a maximum of 6.5 AAP Category 1 CME credits for completing this program.
  • American Academy of Nurse Practitioners National Certification Board (AANPCB) accepts AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™ issued by organizations accredited by the ACCME as an equivalent number of hours of participation.
  • SIU School of Medicine is preapproved as a continuing nursing education provider pursuant to Section 1300.130, subsection c), 1), B) and P) of the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation Nurse Practice Act.  Nurses may receive a maximum of 6.5 contact hours for completing this activity.
  • SIU School of Medicine is a licensed provider for continuing education for social workers (license #159-000106), clinical psychologists (license # 268-000008) and professional counselors/clinical counselors (license number 197-000073).  This program offers a maximum of 6.5 CE hours. 
  • All other attendees will receive a Certificate of Attendance.
