TEACHING

I do not view myself as an expert that knows the absolute truth. I share what I know with my students and provide opportunities for them to add what they know, think or desire to know more about. I do not thrive for memorization of content but for practical application, and thus, in all my classes, assignments are focused on application of content and whenever possible, closely related to students’ own interests. In my Spanish language classrooms my goal is to ensure learners’ oral communication which is authentic and spontaneous as possible. I am guided by ACTFL guidelines and standards. Therefore, group interaction is the norm and not the exception. Overall, my teaching is dynamic, learner-centered and creative. It is my goal my students will not only learn from me, but will see themselves as creators of meaning and contributors to each other’s learning.
