Mission
The mission of the Anti-racism, Social Justice, and Coalition-building Committee is to actively guide the School of Communication at Illinois State University in continuously identifying, developing strategies, and implementing structural policies and specific actions to combat systemic inequities embedded within our department, institution, and local communities. Through collaborative efforts with alumni, students, faculty, staff, and community members, the Committee will collectively develop actionable steps for the work needed to transform our intellectual community, workplace culture, and cultural consciousness.

Recent Updates
Two Main Goals for Fall 2021
This semester our two projects of focus are getting a section added to the annual productivity report that recognizes EDIA work as well as reviewing foundational/structural documents such as ASPT documents and tenure and promotion applications and suggesting revisions to those documents to recognize EDIA work.
Committee Update about Summer 2021 meetings
Over the summer, we worked on the mission, goals, and structure of an Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion, and Accessibility Learning Community Undergraduate Certificate Program and continue to work out the logistics and roll out of the program.
Why the Name Change in 2020?
We have revamped our Diversity and Inclusion Committee, now named the Anti-racism, Social Justice, and Coalition-building Committee, so that the School of Communication’s commitments and policies better reflect the future of American democracy.
