National Forensics Association
The NFA is a national intercollegiate organization that promotes excellence in speech, focused on individual events, and debate. Every year NFA sponsors the NFA national tournament in addition to various other regional tournaments. The NFA national tournament involves rigorous competition for both individual event speaking and Lincoln-Douglas debate.

Interstate Oratorical Association
The IOA was formed in 1874 and has held oratory contests every year since that time. It is the oldest and longest running forensic contest in the U.S. Each state holds competitions to determine its’ two qualifiers to the national contest.

American Forensics Association
The AFA is a national organization that promotes excellence public speaking, individual events, and debate. AFA was founded in 1949 in Chicago by the Association of Directors of Speech Activities. Its purpose was to encourage the development of forensics participation. Today, AFA is an umbrella organization for both speech and debate.

National Speech Championship
Founded in 2017, NSC was created as a limited-entry national tournament. Their goal is to foster access and inclusion for all forensics programs, regardless of size or budget.

Delta Sigma Rho-Tau Kappa Alpha
DSR was founded in 1906 as a national honorary fraternity. TKA was founded in 1908. The two organizations merged in August 1963. DSR-TKA is a national organization that aims to promote an interest in and award excellence in forensics and original speaking; and to foster respect for and an appreciation of freedom of speech as a vital element of democracy.
