Steven Landau

Hello, and welcome to my website. My name is Steven Landau. I am a Professor in the Department of Psychology at Illinois State University. Specific information regarding professional School Psychology can be found at Who Are School Psychologists? page.

Our university was the first in the state of Illinois to train school psychologists, with program inception dating to the 1950s. Both SSP and Ph.D. programs are approved by the National Association of School Psychologists (NASP), and our Ph.D. program is approved by the American Psychological Association (APA). The School Psychology division of APA is Division 16. School Psychology career information can be found at the NASP Career Center.

Most of my research focuses on children with Attention-deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), and I am particularly interested in the peer problems experienced by ADHD children. I am also interested in the effect of bystander behavior on other bystanders who witness bulling. Many of my students are conducting research in these areas.

Here is a helpful ADHD Handbook.pdf for parents and teachers, published by the National Institute of Mental Health, that you can download as a pdf file. This handout, Teaching children with Attention deficit Hyperactivity Disorder Instructional strategies and practices.pdf, can also be downloaded.

Currently, I serve as Chair of the Research Committee of NASP, as well as Associate Editor of Psychology in the Schools and NASP Communiqué. In terms of my personal interests, I am an avid sea kayaker and own a vintage BMW motorcycle.
