Data and tools used in hydrology related researches:

  • Most of satellite-based hydrology data (e.g. TRMM precipitation, NLDAS landsurface data) can be accessed and anlyzed from GIOVANNI
  • Most of remote sensing land data access tools can be found at LPDAAC
  • GRACE terrestral water storage anomaly data can be obtained from GRACE Tellus
  • GLDAS monthly water content for GRACE
  • Interactive GRACE data visualizatins – CU GRACE Data PortalCNES/GRGS plotter
  • GRACErr: a program for calculating spatially decorrelated errors of GRACE satellite data, written by Dr. Dowd (UGA) and me can be obtained up on request by email
  • Meteorological data (e.g., precipitation, air temperature) input for SWAT hydrologic model, including software products can be downloaded from SWAT website
  • Automation codes for satellite images processing (awesome to accomplish multiple tasks with multiple files, I mean 1000s, at a time). For MODIS/AMSRE products use MRT tool or HEG
  • Access to gauged data in the US for climatology – NOAA and groundwater and stream flow – USGS
  • PRISM precipitation data (nearly 4 km resolution) for the conterminous US
  • CHIRPS – up to 0.05 Deg resolution Global rainfall data (1981-present)
  • Global 30m resolution DEM from ASTER
