For preliminary professional actuarial examinations Illinois State University students (regardless of major) who pass actuarial examinations will have their examination fees reimbursed by the Actuarial Program, subject to availability of funds. For advanced professional actuarial examinations (including SOA FAP Final Assessment), subject to availability of funds, students will be reimbursed for examination fee up to $1000 (not for study materials or online study modules), but only if they pass the examination. Only active students, i.e., students enrolled in at least one class at Illinois State University, are eligible for this, or any other actuarial scholarship. Students interested in this fee reimbursement should contact the Actuarial Program, and NOT any other department or school, best by sending an e-mail to: actuary@IllinoisState.edu.
Illinois State University students who receive actuarial examination credit through University Earned Credit (UEC) program for classes taken at Illinois State University can also request reimbursement for the fee paid to the Society of Actuaries transferring the UEC into the examination being listed on student’s transcript with the Society of Actuaries. The procedure for reimbursement is the same as for the examinations fees.
Illinois State University students enrolled in online seminars for professional actuarial examinations offered by the Conference Services of Illinois State University are also eligible for reimbursement of the cost of study manuals used in those seminars upon passing the corresponding actuarial examination. The procedure for reimbursement is the same as for the examinations fees.
Requests for examinations fees reimbursements should be submitted within 90 days of the release of official examinations results. Reimbursements of examinations fees and related fees (e.g., study manuals used in seminars) cannot be processed if requests for reimbursement are submitted for a student who is no longer enrolled at Illinois State University.
To receive the reimbursement, when official exam results are released, send proof of payment (typically that’s the e-mail from the Society of Actuaries or the Casualty Actuarial Society received upon registration showing the amount paid for the exam) to actuary@IllinoisState.edu. Reimbursement is processed as a payment into your student’s account at Illinois State University.
