Andrés is interested in how genes and nervous systems produce behavior that help animals survive in an ever-changing environment.
He is also interested in harnessing the undertapped behavioral richness of C. elegans to pursue translational studies (such as using the study of nematode burrowing to find molecules that may benefit the treatment of muscular dystrophy).
We use interdisciplinary approaches that combine molecular techniques, genetics, behavioral studies, optogenetics, calcium ratiometry, and many more.
