The Autism Place

The Autism Place at Illinois State is an affiliate of The Autism Program (TAP) of Illinois. TAP is a network of resources for Autism Spectrum Disorders, which has developed an infrastructure of provider networks to help Illinois families.

Cecelia J. Lauby Teacher Education Center

Located in DeGarmo Hall, Room 56, the Cecelia J. Lauby Teacher Education Center houses the advisors for Teaching and Learning and Special Education. In addition, Clinical Experience coordinators make thousands of placements for teacher education students to acquire pre-student teaching and student teaching experiences in Illinois public schools. A diversity specialist is on staff to assist students and programs in gaining experiences in a variety of settings with all types of children and adolescents. Dedicated staff provide hands-on training for electronic portfolio development in our new Teacher Education Portfolio Lab.

The Center for Adoption Studies

The Center for Adoption Studies conducts research on families formed through adoption, children awaiting adoption and the systems though which such families are created.

Child Care Center at Illinois State

The mission of the Child Care Center at ISU is to provide high quality, developmental child care services for ISU students’ children aged 3-10 years. The Center also serves as a lab site for practicum students and volunteers in the ISU Family and Consumer Sciences Department as well as other campus departments.

Children’s Literature Program

The Children’s Literature program has long embraced both literary and educational approaches to Children’s Literature. The program is cutting edge in its advocacy of using books written for children to foster the analytical study of children’s texts.

International Collection of Child Art

The International Collection of Child Art holds images of art created by children and adolescents representing more than fifty countries and cultures from Argentina to New Zealand.

Psychological Services Center (PSC)

The Psychological Services Center (PSC), a unit of the Department of Psychology, is dedicated to service, research, and the training of graduate students in the Clinical-Counseling Psychology Program and the Graduate Programs in School Psychology. Graduate student clinicians are supervised by psychology faculty as they work closely with referred children, adolescents, and families. The PSC provides a wide range of services including individual and home-based or school-based assessment and treatment, group counseling, and classroom or parent education groups. The PSC also provides services to college students.

Teaching Materials Center

The Teaching Materials Center located on Floor 6 of Milner Library, is a unique collection of pre-K through Grade 12 materials to support the teacher education programs at Illinois State University.
