Other Projects in the McLauchlan Research Laboratory

The Tris-Imidizolyl Ligand 2Me-TIC Inorg. Chim. Acta, 2007

Although the primary focus of our laboratory involves vanadium chemistry, we are involved in several other research projects, all under the umbrella of “coordination chemistry”.

Tris His Enzyme Models

We have made a number of complexes with tris-imidazolyl ligands involving cobalt, nickel, copper, and zinc to model histidine-containing metalloproteins.

Bisphosphonates

In collaboration with Dr. Al Herlinger at Loyola-Chicago, we have been investigating the X-ray crystal structures of bisphosphonates and bis-phosphonic esters that are synthesized in his laboratory. We have been examining the structural role of even and odd alkyl chain liner lengths.
